A typical treatment plan involves 1 to 3 sessions, spaced 1 to 2 months apart. In most cases, excellent results can be achieved with a single treatment. However, persons with severe wrinkling or deep acne scars may benefit from a series of treatments.

Treatment parameters and laser settings can be geared to your lifestyle. You may choose to undergo 1 or 2 aggressive treatments or a series of less aggressive treatments in order to achieve an optimal result. A "light" laser resurfacing has a shorter recovery. Post-treatment appearance is similar to a moderate sunburn and time off work is minimal (usually 2 or 3 days). "Heavy" treatments carry more prolonged recovery periods with redness and swelling lasting up to a week (down-time usually 5 or 6 days). Make-up can be applied 2 or 3 days after the treatment. Puffiness is most obvious around the eyes. A pink appearance will require make-up for several weeks thereafter.
